​Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS)

MiDAS helps improve minibus safety by working with your organisation to enhance skills for drivers. Anyone interested in driving an Easilink vehicle must:

  1. Fill in a MiDAS registration form.
  2. Provide Easilink with a copy of their driving licence.
  3. Complete the MiDAS course to be eligible for Easilink’s insurance cover.

MIDAS ASSESSMENT PROCESS

MiDAS is a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers and consists of three modules and a written test:

  • On Road Assessment;
  • Standard Training Module;
  • Accessible Minibus Training (For Groups who work with wheelchair users).

On Road Assessment takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.

The standard training module takes three hours to complete and covers:

  • Introducing MiDAS;
  • Driving a Minibus;
  • Common Driving Faults and How to Avoid Them;
  • Legal Requirements and Good Practice for Minibus Drivers;
  • Minibus Equipment;
  • Passenger Awareness,
  • Assistance and Safety;
  • Safety for Passengers who use Wheelchairs in Minibuses;
  • Breakdown, Accident and Emergency Procedures.

MiDAS training must be completed every four years. MiDAS costs £50 per person.
